Create Your Own Levels in Auditorium: Duet

When we were making Splice, we created an in-game level editor for ourselves so we could jump into any level and modify it while playing. The editor was a simple drag-and-drop interface for creating and deleting nodes, and it was super streamlined and convenient. We were sad that our players never got to use it. We’re hoping Duet will be a different story.

We’ve created a similar level editing system for Duet, both to simplify our own level-making process, and to allow players to create their own levels. The in-game editor allows you to drag-and-drop streams, controls, and obstacles into the level, or modify and destroy any of these elements at will. Auditorium: Duet will be a creative exercise both for us as developers, and for players, too.

Here’s a sneak peak at the level editor:

Level Creators and Editors are fantastic tools! The only problem I have ever found with them is sharing the levels. There are always different sites for them and I never know which one to use, or which is best. Is it possible for you guys at Cipher Prime to centralise it? I am not sure if it is possible but it might be a good idea to look into it?

    >Saw this show on the 17th Aug at the Fringe. With out a doubt the best play I’ve ever seen! Brilliant crowd interaction and I was lanighug throughout the entire performance. I loved the idea of getting an audience member’s mobile number for an actor to call and all the other quips that drew the crowd in even the concessions guy was a great addition.I didn’t know what to expect after receiving a leaflet in the streets but am glad I came along! Hoping to bring a friend along next time I see it again which will be soon! Thanks for the great performance made my Fringe Festival!

Many the#rs&n8230;[…]Thake are certainly a lot of details that way to consider. That is an excellent point to mention. I provide the thoughts above as general inspiration but clearly there are questions like the one you bring up where the most important thing is going…

Thanks Kae.I was sort of expecting one of those HoP-ed pally as the last man standing kills, but we only had 2 or 3 dead at the end. A heroic effort from the 2nd add tank saved the 1st add tank from being mauled by adds so he managed to live through the fight and keep all the adds away from the raid. I hope we can repeat that
