Introducing: Space Whale Studios

Not only do we currently have our Cipher Prime Bundle happening, we are overwhelming excited to announce the debut launch for another Philadelphia Studio: Space Whale Studios. As of yesterday, they launched their first title called “Return All Robots” on the XBox Live Marketplace. And today, they are launching their PC version right from our very own store! This is a huge win for Philly and I’m very proud to see my friends succeed. Now, for a little look at Return All Robots:

For more information on Space Whale Studios visit

This is a big step for us and hopefully a lasting one. This is the first of (hopefully!) many titles to be launched individually on our platform. Over the course of the next couple months we will be changing the site around and making it more studio focused, giving each developer the spotlight. If you are interested in hearing more about this or getting a game up on our store, be sure to get in touch!

Cipher Prime Holiday Sale!

There’s something about this time of year that, in spite of Philadelphia’s wickedly wintry weather, melts our hearts and fills the air with generosity.

So to share that feeling, we are pleased to announce the Cipher Prime Holiday Sale! We’ve lowered the price of both Auditorium and Fractal to just $4.99, saving you a whopping five bucks a pop!

And if that’s not enough, you can get them bundled together for a mere $7.99! With that kind of savings, you’ll be able to send your Aunt Marion an extra fruitcake this year!

So treat yourself or a friend the gift of gleeful gaming! Sale ends December 31st!

Happy Holidays!

P.S. As always, you can send the games as gifts to your friends from your CP Store account!

Auditorium HD. PS3. November 23rd.

A lot of you have been wondering: whatever happened to that contest we won? Wasn’t Auditorium supposed to be coming to platforms or something?

Well it is. The culmination of many months of work is upon us, with Auditorium HD coming to PS3 on November 23rd! The game looks and plays awesome on the system, and we’ve put a lot of work in with indiePub (the Publisher) and Empty Clip Studios (the Developer) to make the best console experience for Auditorium we could muster. Auditorium HD contains the entire playlist from the online version (now called Auditorium Classic), as well as an entirely new playlist called Auditorium Modern, with 78 new levels and brand-spanking new audio!

The producer from indiePub put his thoughts up on the Official Playstation blog.

This is really special for us. To be honest, we’re not sure the reality of having created a game on the PS3 has even hit us yet. November 23 will be a momentous day for our little Cipher Prime Team and we can’t wait to share it with you. For everyone who donated so long ago, you’ve changed our lives and I hope we never go back to the old sludge of things.

In celebration, we’ll be releasing some more information soon on a super-secret new title we’ve been silently cooking up. If you look, you’ll notice there haven’t been any updates in awhile. We have been working incredibly hard behind the scenes on this new title and we’ll be able to share soon! Keep in touch!

Bundles of Love, Bundles of Joy

We’ve put together a brand new Indie Bundle with our friends at Dejobaan Games, Digital Eel, Farbs, Lazy 8 Studios, Llamasoft, and Nifflas’ Games!

The bundle features AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!!: A Reckless Disregard for Gravity, BrainPipe, Captain Forever, Cogs, Saira, and Space Giraffe (valued at nearly $80). Lucky for you, we’re selling the bundle for a mere $19.99!

We're passing the savings on to YOUUUUUU!

We highly recommend you hop on over to and snag a copy before it’s too late!

But wait, there’s still more good news! If you didn’t get to chance to pick up the last Indie Bundle, it’s still available on the Indie Bundle Site!

And if you’re REALLY itching to get your game on, you can grab the Mega-Love Bundle which includes both the Summer-of-Love Bundle and the original Indie Love Bundle — over $160 worth of games — for the ludicrously low price of $29.99.  Now that’s a bargain, ain’t it?

As with all games at the CP Store, you can access and download your games at any time — no DRM, no middlemen. And if you already own games in the bundle, you can send your extra copies to your friends, so they can enjoy them too!

The sale ends Thursday Wednesday, Sept. 22nd, at 11:59 PM, so act fast and pick one up today!

Cipher Prime Goes to IndieCade

INCREDIBLE NEWS!!! We are ecstatic to announce that BOTH Auditorium and Fractal have been chosen as finalists in the 2010 IndieCade festival!

For those of you who don’t know, IndieCade is an annual event in Culver City, CA that features all different types of independent games from every genre and for every platform imaginable. It’s a three day festival-conference hybrid that gives the indie game community the opportunity to share knowledge and ideas while celebrating independent developers from all over the globe.

Needless to say, we feel very honored to receive such recognition and are incredibly excited to be attending the event in October.

We could never have achieved this without the loyal support of our fans, friends and followers. Thank you all so much for helping us reach such heights!

Keep an eye out for pictures and news from the IndieCade conference in a few weeks!

Kerry Joins the Team!

Hey internet,

I’d like to introduce myself as Cipher Prime’s newest team member.

It’s been just over a month since I started here at CP, but now that I’ve officially been dubbed a “Zealot”, I can finally unveil myself to all of you.

So just to fill you guys in, here’s a quick recap of what the past month has been like at the studio:

Right off the bat, Will and Dain had me designing the new levels for Auditorium HD (only after I was able to beat the game). Thanks to Auditorium’s level editor, the process of actually building the levels was relatively simple. The tricky part was coming up with puzzles that were unique, intuitive and challenging- but never TOO challenging, of course. This can prove to be difficult if you’ve been staring at the same puzzles for days on end. Needless to say, after each round of testing, the levels had to go through several iterations before they started to feel like they were flowing nicely.

From there, it was on to choosing color palettes to go along with Dain’s new compositions and re-testing the levels on the PS3 build.

Between all of that, miscellaneous design work, putting together our First Friday event, and a healthy amount of Starcraft, they’ve kept me pretty busy for sure.

You all can expect to hear more from me in the coming months but for now, I’ve got to get back to Startcraft. Just kidding… Sort of…

First Friday at Cipher Prime

Last month, in true Old City spirit, the guys at Drink Philly (our neighbors across the hall) hosted an open house for “First Friday”. The event was a huge success and we’ve got some great news!

They’ll be doing it all over again tomorrow night! But this time, Cipher Prime is getting in on the action! Here at the studio, we will be showing off both Fractal and Auditorium as well as featuring the work of local artists Alex Hohlov and Rachel Kantor.

Last Month’s First Friday Event at Drink Philly

Next door, Drink Philly will be offering cocktail tastings, FREE food from Continental and showcasing a few artists of their own.

This event will be a ton of fun and totally FREE so if you’re in the neighborhood, stop by our new office, play some games and have a drink on us!

Don’t forget: there will be an after party!

Home Sweet Home!

A-thousand-and-one thanks to everyone that participated in the Moving Sale! If there is anyone that still has not received their free audio tracks, shoot us an email at and we’ll get that squared away for you right away.

And now, pictures!

Old office @ 910 S 8th St.

Lonely Bike

Do you want sunlight, or reasonable temperatures?

It looked exactly like this, all the time.

180 sqft. of former candy store nestled away one block from the Italian Market, this prime piece of real estate was… too bloody small. On the average beta-testing night, we’d have three developers, 6 testers, 4 pizzas, 3 cases of Mountain Dew, and no real AC to speak of. It was an excellent starter office, but alas, we have outgrown its cozy confines.

And the New Office @ 239 Chestnut St!

Natural light, oh how we’ve missed you.

This room alone is bigger than our old office.

The view down Chestnut St.

A spacious 1000 sq ft gem nestled in the heart of Philadelphia’s Old City, this absolute steal features all the accoutrements of a modern studio. An open floor plan, secondary room, and cozy loft await!

Sorry guys. I’ve been looking for a new apartment lately and all the realtor talk is rubbing off on me.

In other news, if 5 bucks for Fractal wasn’t cheap enough for you, here’s a way you can get it free. Friend of the site XboxPlus is giving away 5 copies in a promotion. Head on over to check it out!
